One of the many visitors to Malvern this weekend to see the Three Counties Show was Jim Paice MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Mr Paice joined Mid Worcestershire MP Peter Luff and Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire at lunch with the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, this year's Show President.

Harriett Baldwin said, "As this was Worcestershire's year to preside over the Three Counties Agricultural Society Show, it was an honour to welcome the Shadow Minister and hear how much he enjoyed the event. It was also clear from the many farmers I spoke to that the government's recent decision to replace Jane Kennedy, the Minister for Food, Farming and the Environment who resigned last week over Number 10's "bullying" tactics with Jim Fitzpatrick, a Glaswegian vegetarian from an East London constituency, had not gone down well."

"As Simon Hart, the Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance has said, "There is nothing wrong with vegetarianism, but I need a little persuading that it is the best platform from which to champion our farming and meat industry."
