The Fairtrade Fortnight campaign bus stopped in Pershore Co-op car park today, Friday 7th March to help Pershore promote Fairtrade and come a step closer to becoming a Fairtrade town.

Pictured on the Right are Cllr and Mrs Reg Jakeman, who helped Evesham achieve Fairtrade town status in 2006.

Leading the effort in Pershore is local resident Simon Townend. Here in the bus photo the campaign is supported by Pershore Abbey curate Chris Stewart as well as West Worcestershire Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Harriett Baldwin. Many other local people visited the bus as well.

Simon Townend said "We are very close to our goal of achieving Fairtrade status for Pershore. If we can sell more Fairtrade products in the town, more money will flow to very worthwhile producers in the third world, helping their economies."

Harriett Baldwin added, "I am delighted to be supporting the Pershore Fairtrade campaign. I will be helping the campaign by writing to local businesses and opinion-formers to encourage them to stock more Fairtrade products."
