Thursday August 30th saw the unveiling of a new water sculpture in Pershore, next to the new hospital and Wychavon Civic Centre.

The sculpture, a sphere of surgical steel on five legs, is also a water fountain. Designed by David Harber, the sculpture cascades water down the outside of the sphere which is then recycled again.

Welcoming about one hundred Friends to the event were Vice-Chairman of the League of Friends, Michael Amies and Chairman Patricia Freeman.

Friends raised over £300,000 towards equipping the new hospital and its courtyard garden. This sculpture was also paid for by the League of Friends.

Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire congratulated the Chairman and Vice-Chairman on the partnership between the District Council, the Primary Care Trust and the League of Friends that led to the successful opening of the new hospital. "The Pershore hospital project is a marvellous example of co-operation between the NHS, local government and the voluntary sector. It is the first project of this kind in the country, and a shining example to others."
