Harriett Baldwin has been invited to a London award ceremony on February 4th next week for the farm/school "twinning" arrangement she brokered between Worcestershire and Birmingham.

The nomination for a Conservative National Campaigning Award is in the Social Action category. Her Birmingham-based colleague Keely Huxtable is also nominated for the award.

Overbury Farms and Wychall Primary School in Birmingham have linked up to teach urban children about farming. Three visits to the farm will take place this school year, with the second farm visit taking place next week.A blog link and webcam have also been set up and Farmer Jake Freestone has visited the school.

Harriett Baldwin said, "So many children grow up these days without understanding where the food they see in the supermarkets comes from. It is vital for the future of sustainable farming in Britain that we address this. I am very grateful to everyone at Overbury Farm for providing this wonderful opportunity. I am really pleased that Wychall School were able to link farming to many parts of the school curriculum. We are keen to expand this pilot programme, so if there are any other farms or schools reading this who would like to get involved, please get in touch with me."
