West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the latest employment statistics which show that 2 million new private sector jobs have been created in the UK since 2010. Locally, there were 717 job seekers down a third from 1,071 one year ago at a level which is the lowest since 2008. Harriett commented: “The latest statistics show there are fewer people claiming unemployment benefits and more jobs being created by private sector growth. “Across my constituency, I hear stories of small businesses growing and taking on new staff and in April a new Employment Allowance started which gives businesses a £2,000 cut in their National Insurance Bills. “These latest statistics are good news for local people and it is clear that the long-term economic plan is working helping the private sector to steer a path towards full employment and helping families to enjoy the security of a regular pay packet.”
