Harriett Baldwin today welcomed progress which will see one of Malvern’s business parks getting high speed broadband. A cabinet servicing Malvern’s Enigma Business Park has been upgraded to fibre optic cable after months of lobbying by the MP. A number of local businesses contacted Harriett and asked her to intervene to ask BT to speed up the planned upgrade plans. And last month, Harriett convened a meeting between senior management at BT and local authority chiefs to see what else can be done to secure better broadband speeds for the county. Harriett commented: “I am delighted that we are able to celebrate this upgrade, which has been the cause of some concern locally for several months. “I would like to thank BT for listening to our concerns and scheduling this work before Christmas. “I hope that this is the start of a tranche of upgrades across Malvern. I would repeat my appeal to local people in more rural areas to register an interest with the County Council if they would like better broadband speeds and to talk to their internet provider about what is on offer. “The County Council has £10 million to get superfast broadband to 90 per cent of homes and businesses by 2015.”
