West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has this week welcomed the official opening ceremony of a major new retirement flat complex in Malvern Link. The MP attended the official opening ceremony of Elgar Lodge, which is made up of 33 one and two bedroom apartments completed by developers Churchill Retirement Living. Harriett was given a tour of the facility by regional managing director Douglas Jones and met with local people and staff involved in the development. Harriett commented: “This is another great piece of news for Malvern Link and a fitting new development for local retired people. It is also attracting new residents from other parts of the UK. “We have a growing elderly population and it is great to have high quality developments such as these close to the shopping centre and with easy access to train and bus services and so close to the local community hospital. “I am told that two thirds of these flats have already sold and I hear that the Help to Buy scheme is beginning to unglue the property market chains so that older folk are able to downsize.”
