West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has this week called for an urgent update from BT on the company’s plans to upgrade local internet connections. The MP has written to the company after receiving complaints from local business people about the poor connectivity. Harriett commented: “A lot of small businesses depend on good internet connections to share information and trade online. “We have a number of digital and media companies who would move away from the area without proper connectivity. “We are also seeing growth in the cyber businesses locally, creating jobs and offering opportunities for more people to start their own business. “It is essential that we create the right conditions to encourage economic growth and good web speeds are critical. “I intervened to help lift the deadlock blocking the upgrade of broadband services in Malvern, yet as every community gets an upgrade, another seems to lose out. “I have been told that BT has written to businesses in the Enigma Business Park saying that there are no plans for upgrading their local cabinet. “I have this week written to BT to find out why certain cabinets are going to miss out on upgrades and how they reach this decision.”
