Local MP Harriett Baldwin has paid tribute to people serving in the armed forces at a celebration event in Malvern on Saturday (28th June). The MP visited the event on Victoria Park and thanked the large contingent of local people who serve or are involved in the armed forces. Harriett was asked to judge a competition to promote Remembrance Sunday and met with local cadets. Harriett said: “This event, which is mirrored up and down the country, is our chance to publicly thank people who serve in the armed forces. “One hundred years after the First World War broke out across Europe, it is important that we remember those who gave their lives and thank those who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our lives and values. “It’s worth remembering that, locally, we had help from the Royal Irish Regiment who came to help out during the floods earlier this year. “Armed forces do an enormous amount to be of service at home and abroad and I was keen to say my own personal thanks at this event.”
