West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin this week flew the flag for local attractions at an event to help companies benefit from the Olympic legacy. The MP joined Tourism Minister Hugh Robertson at the event to promote better customer service in retail and tourism businesses. The Government initiative offers to help businesses by offering places on a series of courses run by the retail industry’s National Skills Academy. The people who trained the ‘Gamesmakers’ last summer will be sharing their knowledge at sessions across the country. Harriett commented: “It has always been vital that our local tourism businesses benefit from any Olympics legacy. “I thought that the welcome offered by our volunteers during the games was outstanding and I know local businesses will welcome the chance to be able to pick up some tips.” Minister for Tourism Hugh Robertson added: “In 2012 we welcomed the world as the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic and Paralympic Games showed our country at its best. “We want to build on that and continue to drive growth for the tourism industry. “The standard of customer service and care can make or break people’s experience and perception of our country so I urge the sector to get behind this initiative as part of English Tourism Week.”
