Philip Bushill-Matthews, Conservative MEP for the West Midlands was in Pershore this weekend telling local people about his fight for Worcestershire to get a fair share of EU flood clean-up money.

The Government has applied to the EU for relief after the costs of this summer's flooding rose to over £3 billion.

Philip Bushill-Matthews MEP said, "I will fight to make sure that Worcestershire gets its fair share of any relief money that the government is able to win from the EU Emergency Relief Fund. It will only be small percentage of the total damage, but it is badly needed."

He also urged his audience to sign Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire's EU Referendum petition. "It is thanks to MEPs, MPs like Sir Michael Spicer and candidates like Harriett Baldwin that we are keeping up the pressure on Gordon Brown to hold the referendum he promised us. The new EU Treaty is 96% the same as the old Constitution."
