West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has called for more women to get involved in politics at a debate in Worcester’s Guildhall. More than 70 people attended the event hosted by Feminist Times aimed at encouraging more women to participate in the political process. The debate - held at the home of ‘Worcester woman’ - covered ways to encourage more women to stand for election. Harriett, who is the first woman to represent the seat of West Worcestershire described herself as ‘feminist to her fingertips’. She said: “I was pleased to be invited to speak at such an important subject which is so close to my heart. “The Conservative Party of which I am a proud to be a member, secured the vote for women and selected Britain’s first female Prime Minister. “There is still plenty we can and must to to get more women involved in politics and I hope that there are many more events like this to encourage involvement.”
