Eric Pickles MP, the Chairman of the Conservative Party will visit Malvern on Thursday, May 7th and hold a public meeting in the Elgar Suite at the Abbey Hotel at 7:30pm.

Top of the agenda will be Conservative plans to abolish the Regional Spatial Strategy and Mr. Pickles will be explaining how Malvern Hills District Council and other South Worcestershire councils can adapt the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy to reflect this possibility. However, Mr. Pickles will welcome questions from members of the public on any topic.

Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire, who arranged the visit said, "I hope that Mr. Pickles will be able to spell out ways in which Malvern Hills can keep its options open on housing in the run up to a General Election that must be held by June 2010. I have opposed the current government's top-down, Stalinist approach to housing numbers at every stage. I am convinced that the best hope for our green fields is to scrap the government's excessive imposition of 24,500 homes in South Worcestershire."
