County businesses are set to benefit from an export boost thanks to an event set up by local MPs. More than a dozen embassies, including representatives from Russia, Taiwan and the United States, have agreed to visit the county to meet with local businesses. The export event, which is the brainchild of West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, is intended to help give local companies a boost to try trading abroad or reaching new markets. It will also present a Worcestershire welcome to embassies where companies may be looking to invest in the UK. The event has been backed by Worcestershire County Council and the local chamber of commerce as well as the Local Enterprise Partnership. Aimed at any company with ambitions to export its products or services, the event will take place on March 30 and will be hosted by Worcester Bosch. County MPs have taken on the challenge of inviting a range of international embassies to come to Worcestershire to take part in this event. Businesses can book a place at the event by contacting Sharon Curtis on 01684 585165. Harriett said: “The county has some amazing businesses which already put Worcestershire on the map but it is essential that we give every business – regardless of size - a chance to export where possible. “With current problems trading in the Eurozone, it is essential we all look further afield and many local companies don’t have the time or resources to look beyond northern Europe to trade. “Many local companies have already confirmed their attendance and I hope many more will get in touch to book their space. Space is limited, so please get in touch immediately if you are interested in being there. “It is wonderful that Worcester Bosch have agreed to host the event and it will show the world what a great place Worcestershire is to locate a business. “I am grateful for the help that my colleagues have offered to ensure that the trade delegations attend and I hope it will unlock the door to some substantial deals.”
