Chris Grayling MP, Shadow Home Secretary will visit Hanley Swan Post Office this Friday, May 22nd 2009 to meet with Alan Davies, the postmaster who was badly injured in a burglary in 2005. Mr Davies was hit over the head by a crowbar by two teenagers from South Wales who were caught and convicted a year later.

Mr and Mrs Davies still run the Post Office and shop in this beautiful and peaceful village which was so shocked by this savage crime.

Mr. Grayling will then move to The Swan pub in Hanley Swan where he will be available for press interviews.

Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire, who arranged the visit said, "Mercifully, violent crime is extremely unusual in West Worcestershire. However, Mr. Davies' terrible experience highlights some of the problems in our criminal justice system today. We need to end the current government's disastrous policy of early release and we need to introduce honesty in sentencing."
