In addition, we invited Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley to Malvern last April to see the importance of securing a new hospital on the site. It is wonderful to see this constant campaigning pressure pay off."
It was Andrew Lansley who discovered in the answer to a parliamentary question that 85p in every £1 spent by the government since 1997 on new hospitals has been spent in constituencies with a Labour MP. Perhaps by highlighting this, the current government has wanted to demonstrate that new hospitals can still be opened in Conservative constituencies as well."
