Andrew Lansley MP, Conservative Shadow Secretary of State for Health will visit the construction site of the new Malvern Hospital next Monday 18th May 2009. Mr Lansley visited the existing Community Hospital in Malvern in 2007 as part of the campaign to support the case for a new hospital.

He will meet with Bryan Smith, Chairman of the Worcestershire Primary Care Trust and with Brian Hanford and Theresa French who are project-managing the new hospital's construction. Subject to local conditions on the day, Mr. Lansley will also visit the construction site.

Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire and member of the League of Friends of Malvern Community Hospital said, "I am delighted that Mr. Lansley is returning to Malvern to see the progress on the new £17.7m hospital. I am sure he will want to congratulate the project management team on progress. I also hope that he will be able to congratulate the staff from the existing Community Hospital on their achievements since his last visit. They have opened a very successful Minor Injuries Unit that has seen over 1,000 patients in 4 months and they have maintained a zero tolerance approach to MRSA. All the while, they have been working on the specifications for the new hospital which will have many more facilities that the existing one."
