Plans 'developing well' at Lower Broadheath

16th March 2018

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin gathered local community volunteers and Post Office management to develop a plan for supporting the return of the village shop and Post Office.

The MP has been in regular contact with volunteers for nearly a year after it announced plans to investigate resumption of the village store. The previous shop closed down in May but the MP intervened to ensure that postal services were maintained at the local pub.

And Harriett pledged to bring senior Post Office management to the village to meet with the volunteers and plan for a swift resumption of both the store and also vital post office services.

An area in the garden of the Bell pub in Lower Broadheath has now been cleared ahead of the group securing a permanent structure for the new store.

Harriett commented: "I was pleased to bring together local volunteers and my contacts at the Post Office to have a face-to-face chat about resuming services for the village.

"The plans seem to be developing well but it is clear that there are some hurdles that need to be overcome as the team plans for launch.

"Having supported a similar successful project in Alfrick, I know how important it is to open a dialogue between the key players as well as personally demonstrating my support.

"I will continue to work with all parties to try and smooth this process and look forward to hearing more detail about the upcoming share scheme and formal plans to open later this year."
