Eric Pickles to visit Malvern this Thursday
Eric Pickles MP, Conservative Party Chairman to hold Public Meeting in Malvern

Eric Pickles MPEric Pickles MP, the Chairman of the Conservative Party will visit Malvern on Thursday, May 7th and hold a public meeting in the Elgar Suite at the Abbey Hotel at 7:30pm.

Top of the agenda will be Conservative plans to abolish the Regional Spatial Strategy and Mr. Pickles will be explaining how Malvern Hills District Council and other South Worcestershire councils can adapt the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy to reflect this possibility. However, Mr. Pickles will welcome questions from members of the public on any topic.

Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire, who arranged the visit said, “I hope that Mr. Pickles will be able to spell out ways in which Malvern Hills can keep its options open on housing in the run up to a General Election that must be held by June 2010. I have opposed the current government’s top-down, Stalinist approach to housing numbers at every stage. I am convinced that the best hope for our green fields is to scrap the government’s excessive imposition of 24,500 homes in South Worcestershire.”

Strensham Wind Farm access track rejected

Shadow Housing Minister to visit Lower Broadheath and Hallow
Grant Shapps MP, Shadow Housing Minister to visit Lower Broadheath and Hallow on May 11th.

Grant Shapps MPGrant Shapps MP will meet with local residents and see the green fields which are threatened by Labour's Regional Spatial Strategy.  Currently, the RSS requires South Worcestershire's councils to find space for 24,500 homes between now and 2026.  Because Worcester City does not have enough room for the 10,500 homes it has been allocated, the City could expand outside its current boundaries.  Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, who has objected to the RSS at every stage said, "I am delighted that it is Conservative Party policy to abolish the Regional Spatial Strategy and its top down imposition of these excessive housing numbers.  I am pleased that Grant Shapps is able to see at first hand how this development would blight villages like Hallow and Lower Broadheath."
