Plans to relocate Worcestershire ambulance call centre delayed

4th September 2007

Harriett Baldwin welcomes delay to plans to relocate the ambulance call centre from Worcestershire.

Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, West Worcestershire learned tonight that plans to relocate the ambulance call centre from Worcestershire have been delayed. The announcement was made at a meeting of the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee at Worcestershire County Council. At the meeting, Chief Executive Anthony Marsh revealed that the plans have been delayed in order for West Midlands Ambulance Service to fully consider the input from the consultation period. The closure of the Bransford EOC could have a very serious impact on ambulance availability in rural parts of Worcestershire and Herefordshire and would see the call centre relocated to Brierley Hill in the Black Country.

Harriett Baldwin said, "I am pleased that West Midlands Ambulance Service have decided to delay the decision to close Bransford's Ambulance Call Centre. It is not a good deal for the people of Worcestershire and we will continue to oppose the plans. I remain hopeful that the ambulance service will be able to find a way to keep Bransford open."
