MP welcomes Tenbury transport successes

8th September 2017

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news that the popular Tenbury volunteer transport service is booming and is now expanding to help community groups, school children and even more county hospital patients.

Tenbury Transport Trust already provides a vital lifeline for local people who struggle to get around to shop or attend important medical appointments.

And Harriett backed the Trust when it bid for Government funds for a new bus which was delivered late last year, meaning yet more people can be transported.

The Trust has also expanded to helping local community groups and will shortly be taking part in a Worcestershire County Council pilot to help ferry patients to and from Acute hospital sites in Redditch, Worcester and Kidderminster.

Harriett commented: “Tenbury Transport Trust does an amazing job helping people who live in our beautiful rural countryside but aren’t able to get around under their own steam.

“I was pleased to join people celebrating the arrival of the brand new bus and welcome the fact that it has been well-used already.

“The Trust has a strong network of local drivers and this new pilot will help more people get to important hospital appointments and even get to treatments such as dialysis.

“We are lucky to live in a wonderful part of rural England but that can be a real obstacle for those people who are ill. Vulnerable or not able to drive.

“Fortunately we have a cohort of community minded people prepared to help out and I have been a supporter of Tenbury Transport Trust from the very beginning as it offers a vital lifeline for local people.”
