Harriett: ‘Yes to patients in NHS, not reorganisations’

12th April 2010

Conservative candidate Harriett Baldwin today pledged to put patients first in her NHYes campaign.

Harriett said: “The Conservatives have pledged to put patients’ interests first when helping the NHS to give the best possible service for Britain.

“We understand the pressures frontline staff face. In recognition of its special place in our society we are committed to protecting health spending in real terms – we will not make the sick pay for Labour’s debt crisis.

“Together, we must act for change and act now. We can’t go on with an NHS that puts targets before patients and is always reorganising its management.

“We are the only party pledging to invest in the NHS today because we not only back the values of the NHS, but we have a vision for its future.”

In Worcestershire, Harriett has a highly-regarded track record battling against the imposed re-organisation of the local NHS organisations and championing local hospitals.

She added: “I welcome the impressive progress made on the new hospital in Malvern and I hope to be part of the team securing a better future for the NHS free from bureaucratic nightmares and disastrous re-organisations.

“People across West Worcestershire are looking for a local champion who knows the area and is willing to stand up for them in and act with integrity at all times. Only a vote for the Conservatives will end Labour’s 13 years and disastrous administration.”
